Alternate Ending for ‘Eclipse’: In Stephenie Meyer’s Words

Posted by with No Comments

Twilight fans may be surprised to know that Stephenie Meyer at one point outlined an alternate ending for Eclipse, the third book in the series. At the time, Meyer explains that publishers worried the series would go stale if there were too many books so the plan was to cut it off at three.

While Meyer already had ideas about her characters’ stories well beyond a third book, she consented to work out an ending for Eclipse that would have brought the series to a close. In August of 2010, Stephenie gave an interview currently available on twilightseriestheories.com where she talked about the thought process that went into that alternate ending, but ultimately declined to give its major details.

That’s because she says there’s still a chance that she might write out the alternate ending and make it available for her fans. She’s just worried that fans will then see that ending as the real one and the book ending as fake, and she’s cautious about anything that would disrupt her story’s continuity for her fans. Here’s what she had to say about it.

“See if I tell them, I can’t write. And so that becomes…’cause then you’ve destroyed it. But um, there was a certain point in time not as much faith in the series and I was told to end it at three. And I’d never planned to do…you know I was…There were three books right? There were supposed to be three books and there was no idea of it going on, and in my head it was this long series. And so it was like: ‘No, we should end this.’ Because you know if you go on too long sometimes series lose their steam or whatever. And the story was just so wide open then. There was so much that wasn’t done and so to have ended it there, it would have had to be a radical ending. Um, radically different. There [were] some fantasy elements that I don’t think people would’ve seen coming. I don’t think they would have responded well. My mom hates it! Hates the ending. My sister was cool with it. And you know I could see that because there were things…Some people, the way they’re tied to the characters are dependent on certain aspects of those characters, and now I’m gonna sound really really bad but it messed with that for some people. But then once I started thinking about it I was really intrigued by that conversation. There was this really dramatic scene and Bella doesn’t know what’s going on and the visuals in it were really strong for me. And so then I wanted to write it. You know back when nobody cared about the books and I could do whatever I wanted, I was like Bree it was gonna be on the website. That was the plan all along. I would write up this alternate ending, but will people throw rocks at me if I write this? There’s a possibility! Oh and then people will think: ‘Oh this is the real ending and that’s the fake ending.’ When it’s not you know…this is just an alternate. This is the way it could’ve gone. But it didn’t and I like it better how it is.”

‘Eclipse’ Top Ten Quotes that Should Be in the Movie

Posted by with 20 Comments

As you all know we still have exactly 3 months more to wait for the arrival of ‘Eclipse‘ *jumps up & down in his chair*!! :) So Gather has made a great list of the top 10 quotes from the book that should be in the movie script!!

1. I believe that. But I want you to know something — when it comes to all this enemies nonsense, I’m out. I am a neutral country. I am Switzerland. I refuse to be affected by territorial disputes between mythical creatures. Jacob is family. You are… well, not exactly the love of my life, because I expect to love you for much longer than that. The love of my existence. I don’t care who’s a werewolf and who’s a vampire. If Angela turns out to be a witch, she can join the party, too.  Bella Swan, page 143.

2. It’s not like love at first sight, really. It’s more like… gravity moves. When you see her, suddenly it’s not the earth holding you here anymore. She does. And nothing matters more than her. And you would do anything for her, be anything for her… You become whatever she needs you to be, whether that’s a protector, or a lover, or a friend, or a brother. Jacob Black, page 176.

3. But I’ll never see anyone else, Bella. I only see you. Even when I close my eyes and try to see something else. Ask Quil or Embry. It drives them all crazy. Jacob Black, page 177. …

‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ trailer quotes versus the book’s

Posted by with No Comments

Twilight Examiner has put a very interesting article comparing quotes from book “Eclipse” and the movie trailer.

By reviewing the words used by the cast in the film as compared with those passages present in the text, one can see that the words are quite resemblant of the original quotes.

Trailer: “Isabella Swan, I promise to love you every moment of forever,” Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen.
Book: “Isabella Swan? I promise to love you forever — every single day of forever. Will you marry me?” Edward Cullen, page 460.

The Women Of Eclipse

Posted by with No Comments

By now, most Twilighters know more about Kristen Stewart, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed and the others than their own mothers. So, with filming of “Eclipse” finally under way in Vancouver, the fanbase is excited to welcome some new blood into the vampire franchise.

With that in mind, we present this handy guide to five key actresses joining the “Twilight” saga for its third installment. Much like Bella, we can all look forward to making new friends in Forks, and tomorrow we’ll take a look at the new “Eclipse” men. But to be courteous, here are the ladies first.

Meet The Cast Of “Eclipse”

Character: Maria
Actor: Catalina Sandino Moreno

The Lowdown: Fan-favorite Jackson Rathbone has already expressed excitement over the fact that his role as Jasper Hale will be expanded greatly for the third “Twilight” film. Oscar-nominee Moreno may no longer be “Full of Grace,” but will now play a very different Maria. Described in Stephenie Meyer’s pages as being petite with a soft voice, Maria is the woman who turned Jasper into a bloodthirsty immortal when he was 20 years old in 1863. Her inclusion will play a major role in the young vampire threat that emerges throughout “Eclipse” and the likely-to-film-someday “Breaking Dawn.”

‘Twilight’ On Film: What Scenes Are You Most Looking Foward To Seeing In ‘New Moon,’ ‘Eclipse’ & ‘Breaking Dawn’?

Posted by with 3 Comments

MTV: Hollywood Crush has made a list of the five things they look forward to the most in “New Moon”, “Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn”. They sure got some epic parts from the books on that list. Here’s what they had to say.

bellacliff“New Moon” is only 13 short weeks away, “Eclipse” is shooting and just recently, there was an apparently false rumor that we would be getting two “Breaking Dawn” movies. Even though the last “Twilight” film tentatively won’t be coming out until 2011 (or 2012?), it’s hard not to keep our eyes on the last three novels in the “Twilight Saga” as they move toward hitting the big screen. In honor of our excitement over these film adaptations, we have put together a list of our top five favorite scenes we can’t wait to see (in order of importance, of course).

SPOILER ALERT! If you haven’t read anything past the very first book in Stephenie Meyer’s series, you probably should skip reading this list, run out to your nearest bookstore, and, uh … get on that!

We’d love to read which scenes you guys are looking forward to the most in “New Moon”, “Eclipse” & “Breaking Dawn”!

Top Fashion Designers Sketch Bella’s Wedding Dress

Posted by with 2 Comments

InStyle has another very interesting article about Bella’s wedding dress. The article includes sketches of some of the top fashion designers visions of what Bella will be wearing when she says “I do”. Does this mean Kristen Stewart will be wearing a couture wedding dress?! I certainly hope so! Feel free to make fanart with Kristen in a Chanel wedding dress haha!

Bella-Wedding-Dress-Sketch-Via-In-StyleWhile we don’t want to ruin the plot for any latent Twi-hards, ever since Eclipse started filming we’ve been dying for a sneak peek of Bella‘s wedding dress. In the meantime, we reached out to some of our favorite designers (Christian Siriano’s sketch at left) to see how they envision her gown.

In Eclipse, Bella’s dress is described as an early 1900s design (which complements her antique engagement ring) with friend and Maid of Honor Alice Cullen‘s modern tweaks to the train and veil. “You look like you just stepped out of an Austen movie,” Bella’s mother says to the bride-to-be when she spies her in the gown in the final book,Breaking Dawn. “It’s gorgeous! So graceful, so elegant.”
